Tripura: Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested While En Route to West Bengal
Northeast Desk, 7th February: Three Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor girl, were apprehended by the Government Railway Police at Dharmanagar Railway Station in Tripura’s North District on Tuesday night. The group, comprising two women, Salma Begum (23) and Tahira Begum (42), along with a minor girl named Samina, was intercepted while en route to Sealdah in West Bengal.
According to police sources, the individuals had illegally entered Indian territory and were detained by the Government Railway Police during their journey. They were identified as residents of Amtali village in the Moulviganj police station under the Basirhat district of Bangladesh.
Upon interrogation, Tahira Begum claimed that they had entered Indian territory with the assistance of a Bangladeshi tout, who had promised to arrange employment with a good salary for them in Sealdah, West Bengal. However, their journey was interrupted by authorities in Tripura, leading to their detention by the Government Railway Police.
