Tripura BJP Announces Mandal Presidents with Focus on Youth and Inclusivity
Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh BJP has unveiled its list of Mandal Presidents, marking a historic milestone with the induction of two women into leadership roles for the first time. The party has introduced a wave of fresh faces, with 95% of the appointees being new, emphasizing a focus on youth representation and inclusivity.
Addressing reporters, BJP Office Secretary Samarendra Deb, who also serves as the State Returning Officer for the Sangathan Prava, highlighted the comprehensive organizational process undertaken by the party. “Along with the nation, the organizational Prava is underway in the state,” Deb stated, underscoring the significance of grassroots mobilization.
The party has meticulously built its organizational structure, starting from the booth level to the state level. “We have 3,352 booths, and our karyakartas visited all of them to form committees. This process began in October, following a membership drive that successfully enrolled additional members. It is a continuous effort,” he said.
From November 11 to 30, the party worked on forming booth-level committees, culminating in meetings to elect booth presidents. Subsequently, from December 1 to 15, Mandal Committees were constituted after detailed discussions and consultations. “We have selected 60 Mandal Presidents for the 60 Mandals in the state. Many individuals showed interest in the positions, but we established regulations, including an age limit of 45 years,” Deb explained.
The newly appointed Mandal Presidents reflect the BJP’s commitment to diversity, with 23.3% from Scheduled Tribes (ST), 18.3% from Scheduled Castes (SC), 36.7% from the General category, and 21.7% from Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Deb emphasized the groundbreaking inclusion of women in these roles. “For the first time, we have selected two women as Mandal Presidents. Additionally, we prioritized youth, introducing 95% new faces in the Mandals,” he noted.
This renewed leadership, focusing on younger and more diverse representatives, aligns with the BJP’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence and connect with a broader demographic across Tripura.
