Tripura BJP Chief Slams Left Front, Highlights Youth Leadership and Nationalism at Event
Agartala: Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya delivered a fiery critique of the former Left Front government, accusing it of misleading the state’s youth with ideological rhetoric and neglecting developmental progress during its tenure.
Speaking at the youth-centric event “Tarunner Ogro Jatra-2025” held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Bhattacharya drew a sharp contrast between the past administration and the current BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Recalling his own experiences from school days, Bhattacharya claimed that the previous government had manipulated historical narratives, exposing students only to the concepts of socialism and capitalism. “When we were in school, the then government destroyed the history. We heard two words—socialism and capitalism—during their (CPIM) tenure,” he remarked. In comparison, he credited Prime Minister Modi for fostering a sense of nationalism among the youth, steering them towards a unified vision of the country’s future.
Highlighting the BJP’s focus on grassroots transformation, Bhattacharya noted that the party has actively promoted young leaders to positions of responsibility. He proudly pointed out that all newly appointed Mandal Presidents in the state are under the age of 45, emphasizing the party’s commitment to empowering the next generation.
The BJP leader also touched upon national policy achievements, particularly the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized the previous government for its stance on the issue, accusing it of dividing the country. “By imposing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the then government was trying to divide the country,” he stated, praising Modi’s leadership in restoring unity and sovereignty.
Bhattacharya further acknowledged the historical contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in integrating the Northeast into the Indian union, contrasting this legacy with what he described as the Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s neglect of the region’s development. He accused the CPIM of suppressing the people and stalling progress during its rule, asserting that the BJP has since prioritized growth and inclusivity.
The event, which celebrated youth leadership and engagement, served as a platform for Bhattacharya to reaffirm the BJP’s commitment to shaping Tripura’s future with a focus on development and nationalist ideals. His remarks resonated with the attendees, marking a clear call for continued youth participation in the governance and progress of the state.
