Tripura: BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath Served Show Cause Notice for Alleged Model Code of Conduct Violation

Northeast Desk, 29th April: The Assistant Returning Officer of North Tripura district has issued a show cause notice to BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath, representing Bagbasa assembly constituency, for purportedly breaching the Model Code of Conduct on election day.

The notice stems from an incident during the Second Phase of elections on April 26, within Nath’s assembly constituency falling under the East Tripura Parliamentary seat, where Kriti Devi Singh, sister of Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, is contesting on a BJP ticket.

Allegations suggest that Nath entered a polling station and engaged in misconduct with Booth Level Workers overseeing the voter’s desk. The incident, confirmed by the office of the CEO, transpired at polling booth number 22 of Bagbasa.

Additionally, a complaint has been filed against BJP leader Kajal Das, accused of assaulting a polling officer on election day. The Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) of North Tripura district lodged the complaint at Kadamtala police station.

According to the press release, Kajal Das and associates purportedly attacked the presiding officer of booth number 22 while attempting to manage an unnecessary crowd at the polling station.
