Tripura: BJP Names Dipak Majumder as Candidate for 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency By-election
National Desk, 22nd March: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has selected Dipak Majumder, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, as its candidate for the upcoming by-election in the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency. This seat became vacant following the unfortunate demise of BJP MLA Surajit Datta, and the by-election is scheduled for April 19.
Expressing his gratitude upon the announcement, Mayor Majumder expressed his commitment to serving the people of the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency, continuing the legacy of the late MLA Surajit Datta. He pledged to address the issues faced by the constituents and carry forward the work initiated by his predecessor. Mayor Majumder emphasized his familiarity with the constituency and his intention to engage with residents directly to understand their concerns better.
In a congratulatory message, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha extended his best wishes to Dipak Majumder, urging the voters of the 7-Ramnagar constituency to support the BJP candidate in the upcoming by-election. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and encouraged voters to cast their votes in favor of the “Lotus” symbol, representing the BJP.
Meanwhile, former MLA Ratan Das will contest from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPIM] in this constituency, adding to the competitive dynamics of the by-election.
