Tripura Brushes Aside Nationwide Strike, Says BJP

Agartala: The nationwide strike called by ten central trade unions on Wednesday reportedly had a negligible impact across Tripura, with everyday life continuing as normal. This assertion came from BJP State Secretary Tapas Majumdar, who addressed a press conference at the party’s state office today.

Majumdar emphatically stated that the people of Tripura have “outrightly rejected” the bandh and the ideology underpinning it. He highlighted that essential services and institutions functioned without disruption. “Schools, colleges, banks, offices—all functioned normally. There is no report of any untoward incident in the state,” he affirmed. While acknowledging minor attempts to disturb public life in isolated pockets, Majumdar assured that the situation was promptly brought under control.

Taking a clear jibe at the Left-backed trade unions, the BJP leader commented on the irony of their claims regarding the strike’s success in Tripura. “What’s ironic is that leaders of CITU are claiming a massive response to the strike in Tripura, when the ground reality says otherwise. People here have moved on from their outdated politics,” he remarked.

Majumdar attributed the public’s disinterest in the strike to the prevailing stability and developmental strides witnessed under the current BJP rule in the state. He elaborated, “Ever since the BJP came to power in Tripura, we’ve witnessed a surge in development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched numerous schemes targeting the welfare of the most backward sections of society.”

Further, he accused Leftist groups of orchestrating such strikes as a deliberate attempt to impede the developmental momentum in Tripura. “The culture of disruption no longer resonates with the people. They have chosen progress over protest,” Majumdar concluded, reinforcing the party’s stance on the public’s choice for advancement.
