Tripura: BSF Detains Five Bangladeshi Nationals in Agartala for Suspected Human Trafficking

Northeast Desk, 11th July: In a coordinated effort to combat human trafficking, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday, July 10.

The operation, conducted by a Joint Operation Party comprising the BSF Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and the Special Branch Police Station Amtali, intercepted the individuals as they attempted to board the Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Express.

Among those detained were Md Safiqul Islam (32), Samim Reja (9), Selina Bibi (20), Ibrahim Sardar (24), and Simul Hussain (28). The group included a minor and a woman, all of whom are currently undergoing initial questioning by BSF and police authorities.

This incident mirrors a similar operation on June 30, 2024, where 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women with children, were intercepted at Agartala Railway Station. They were attempting unauthorized entry into India, purportedly heading to Bengaluru and Kashmir.

The BSF remains vigilant in its efforts to prevent human trafficking and illegal immigration, working closely with local authorities to ensure the safety and security of the border region.
