Tripura Celebrates Peaceful Durga Puja, Idol Immersion Continues Under Strict Guidelines

Agartala: Tripura witnessed a peaceful Durga Puja celebration this year, with no major incidents reported throughout the state, according to police officials. The immersion of Durga idols commenced on Saturday and continues under strict government guidelines.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Law and Order, Ananta Das, praised the smooth conduct of the festival. “The puja passed off without any major disturbances, and noise pollution was kept under control, with loudspeakers maintained below the 65-decibel limit,” Das said.

He further noted that all puja organisers were instructed to complete idol immersions by October 14. “Around 50 committees have already completed the process on Saturday, while the remaining will follow by the deadline,” he added.

The immersion of the iconic two-armed Goddess Durga idol, traditionally worshipped at the Rajbari, also took place on Saturday, drawing thousands of devotees.

As the festive days draw to a close, the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department will host the grand ‘Mayer Gamon’ (farewell) carnival on October 14 at Ujjayanta Palace. Chief Minister Manik Saha and his cabinet members are expected to attend, according to ICA Director Bimbiar Bhattacharjee.
