Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Conducts Aerial Survey Amid Severe Floods, Reaffirms Support

Northeast Desk, 23rd August: In response to the devastating floods affecting Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha undertook a comprehensive aerial survey of the hardest-hit areas, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to aiding affected residents.

Early this morning, CM Saha, aboard an MI-17 helicopter from MBB Airport, conducted an aerial survey of Shantirbazar, Belonia, Matabari, Melaghar, Charilam, Bishalgarh, Amarpur, Karbook, and Agartala across the South, Gomati, and West districts.

The chief minister also made personal visits to several relief camps in Gomati district, including Khilpara Higher Secondary School and Khilpara Market Shed, to assess ongoing relief operations. In Shantirbazar, he examined the banks of the Laugang and Muhuri rivers before visiting the relief camp at West Bokafa XII School.

Speaking to reporters, CM Saha emphasized the state’s ongoing efforts to provide immediate and sustained support to flood victims. “Our ministers, MLAs, and officials are actively engaged on the ground, ensuring that relief and assistance reach those in need. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their proactive support, which includes deploying NDRF teams, helicopters, boats, and essential supplies,” Saha stated.

Addressing concerns about the loss of important documents and other issues faced by flood victims, Saha assured that measures are in place to assist citizens in recovering from the crisis. High-ranking officials from the Tripura government accompanied him, reflecting the administration’s commitment to managing the disaster effectively.

Since the onset of the floods on August 19, Tripura’s Gomati, South, and West districts have been severely impacted. However, the situation began to improve from Thursday as rainfall subsided and no further precipitation was recorded.
