Tripura CM Announces Plans for International Flight Operations from MBB Airport

Northeast Desk, 10th March: During the unveiling ceremony of a 5-meter tall bronze statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur at MBB Airport in Agartala, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha revealed plans to introduce international flight operations from the airport in the near future.

Dr. Saha highlighted the significant role of the Manikya dynasty in Tripura’s development, noting the transformation of the former Singerbil Airport into the modern MBB Airport.

Approximately Rs 35 lakh was invested in creating and installing the bronze statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram, symbolizing Tripura’s rich heritage.

Reflecting on the airport’s evolution, Dr. Saha expressed pride in the remarkable transformation, crediting Prime Minister Modi’s vision and commitment to Tripura’s development. He emphasized initiatives like the Act East policy, enhancing connectivity and fostering growth in the North Eastern states.

Dr. Saha underscored the substantial progress in air connectivity, citing the operation of 32 daily flights from Agartala airport, serving around four thousand passengers. He affirmed the state government’s proactive measures to facilitate international flight services, ensuring comprehensive arrangements from immigration to security.

Anticipating the imminent launch of international services, Dr. Saha extended gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for advancing Tripura’s connectivity across air, road, and rail networks.
