Tripura CM Announces Recruitment of 201 Assistant Professors for General Degree Colleges

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Friday that the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has launched a recruitment drive to fill 201 assistant professor positions in the state’s general degree colleges.

The Chief Minister shared the official notification on social media, urging interested candidates to apply for these prestigious academic roles.

According to the Chief Minister’s statement, the recruitment is aimed at addressing the need for qualified faculty in the state’s higher education sector.

The TPSC has initiated the application process, with detailed information available in the official notification.

The recruitment drive is particularly significant as it comes at a time when Tripura’s general degree colleges are relying heavily on guest lecturers. Currently, around 700 guest lecturers are employed across 22 general degree colleges in the state.

An official from the Higher Education Department stated that the recruitment process for these 201 assistant professor positions will go a long way in addressing the shortage of permanent faculty members. “Once the ongoing recruitment process is completed, the shortage of qualified faculty members in the general degree colleges will be addressed,” the official said.

In 2022, a total of 72 assistant professors were recruited for general degree colleges, marking a step toward enhancing the state’s educational infrastructure. This new recruitment effort is expected to further improve the quality of education and strengthen the academic framework in Tripura’s higher education institutions.
