Tripura CM Decries Muscle Power in Politics After Party Workers Attacked
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha today strongly condemned an attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) karyakartas in Khowai district, reiterating his stance that politics should be devoid of muscle power. The Chief Minister made the remarks after visiting three injured party workers undergoing treatment at GB Pant Hospital in Agartala.
Speaking to reporters, CM Saha informed that several karyakartas from Asarambhari Mandal in Khowai district sustained injuries when miscreants launched an assault during the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 124th ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme. He expressed his grave concern over the incident, stating, “Three of the injured karyakartas are now under treatment at GBP Hospital, where I visited them and inquired about their health condition. I also instructed the doctors on duty to ensure proper treatment for the injured persons.” He further added, “I strongly condemn such an attack and have asked the police to take appropriate action against those involved.”
The Chief Minister termed the incident “very unfortunate and completely unacceptable.” He elaborated on the circumstances of the attack, explaining, “In Asarambhari, people were waiting to hear what Prime Minister Narendra Modi would say. All of a sudden, Tipra Motha workers launched an attack—nine bikes were vandalized along with two more.” Dr. Saha firmly asserted that he has never endorsed such aggressive political tactics.
Emphasizing the need for a peaceful political environment, CM Saha stated, “Police will take action as per the law. We must move away from such politics. We have seen 35 years of political history, and we are working to maintain a healthy environment. No one can do politics with muscle power. We will not accept such acts. Wherever necessary, I have conveyed this clearly. We cannot tolerate such incidents. We want calm and peaceful politics.”
