Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha Emphasizes Crucial Role of Panchayats in State Development

Northeast Desk, 12th September: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the significance of the Three-tier Panchayat system in driving state development during the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected members of the Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad. He emphasized that Panchayats are the backbone of progress, playing a crucial role in implementing central and state schemes.

Dr. Saha shared insights from his recent meeting with PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, where he presented the “Amar Sarkar” web portal, which streamlines local issue resolution through the Panchayat framework. He underscored the state’s commitment to transparency and encouraged members to focus on village development through initiatives like the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign.

The ceremony saw 17 members take the oath, and Dr. Saha announced that they would undergo training to equip them for their roles. With 116 Zila Parishads, 423 Panchayat Samitis, and 6,370 Gram Panchayats, the state prioritizes transparency and trust in the Panchayat system.
