Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha Thanks PM Modi for Sanctioning Ex-Gratia Relief for Flood Victims

Northeast Desk, August 31, 2024 — In a significant relief measure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned ex-gratia relief from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the victims of the recent floods in Tripura. The announcement was made by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday.

Under the relief package, Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the families of those who lost their lives in the devastating floods that struck the state between August 19 and 23. Additionally, individuals who sustained serious injuries will receive Rs 50,000.

Expressing his gratitude, CM Dr. Saha took to Facebook to praise PM Modi for the swift and compassionate response. “Grateful for the support! My heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji for announcing PMNRF ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the floods and Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured,” Dr. Saha wrote. He highlighted the significance of this aid in providing much-needed support during these difficult times.

The recent floods in Tripura caused widespread damage and hardship, prompting continuous coordination between PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Tripura Chief Minister. The central government’s response included deploying additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, helicopters, and boats to assist in the ongoing rescue and recovery operations.

This relief announcement comes as a critical support measure for the affected families, underscoring the government’s commitment to aiding those impacted by natural disasters.
