Tripura CM Highlights Drone Technology’s Role in state’s Development at Skill-Uday Tongnai Event
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized the transformative potential of drone technology in boosting employment and productivity across various sectors, including agriculture, security, power services, wildlife conservation, disaster management, and remote healthcare.
The statement came during the inaugural ceremony of SKILL-UDAY TONGNAI, a skill development initiative aimed at empowering students, held at TIT, Narsingarh, Agartala.
CM Saha highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision under the Act East Policy, stating that the Northeast’s development is crucial for India’s overall progress. He recalled the region’s past struggles with terrorism and kidnappings, contrasting them with the present era of peace and growth. “Since PM Modi introduced the HIRA model, Tripura has seen significant progress, including the addition of six national highways, improved internet connectivity, and expanded rail networks. Many people returning after years are astonished at the transformation,” he noted.
The Chief Minister stressed Tripura’s untapped industrial potential, citing recent developments in rubber, agarwood, and tea industries. He revealed that Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had assured a visit to Tripura to explore investment opportunities. “Tripura is the second-largest rubber producer after Kerala. With better finishing techniques, our rubber products will gain higher international acceptance,” he said.
CM Saha also pointed out that Tripura’s Agarwood industry, now exporting to the Middle East after restrictions were lifted, is projected to generate Rs 10,000 crore, significantly boosting the state’s economy. He criticized the previous government’s negligence of the tea sector, noting that the newly established Tea Auction Centre had increased Tripura tea’s market value.
Underscoring the importance of skill development, CM Saha praised PM Modi’s initiative to establish a separate department dedicated to the cause. “Without proper skills, we cannot maximize our potential. Our goal is to harness innovation and technology to drive growth across all sectors,” he stated.
The event was attended by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Secretary Kiran Gitte, Special Secretary of Education Raval Hamendra Kumar, Director of Skill Development Md Sajad, and other dignitaries.
