Tripura CM Manik Saha Announces Rs 100 Crore Package for Surrendered NLFT Militants

Northeast Desk, 8th April: Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled a significant development of an Rs 100 crore package sanctioned by the central government for surrendered militants of the Nationalist Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) during a public meeting in Gabordi, West Tripura district.

The package, part of the Special Economic Development Package for Tripura’s indigenous people, is designated for NLFT activists who have renounced violence, facilitating their integration into mainstream life.

The NLFT, a banned group, had been reportedly operating from hideouts in Bangladesh’s hilly regions, posing a security threat to the region.

Chief Minister Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his problem-solving abilities, highlighting his role in signing 12 accords aimed at establishing peace in the North East since 2014.

Saha cited recent agreements with the Tipra Motha Party, a new member of the ruling coalition, and the resolution of the Bru issue as examples of the government’s commitment to restoring order in the region.
