Tripura CM Manik Saha Attends ‘Meyer Gomon’ Carnival Celebrating Goddess Durga’s Departure

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha participated in the Meyer Gomon carnival in Agartala on October 14, marking the conclusion of the Durga Puja festival.

The event, celebrating the departure of Goddess Durga, signified the end of Vijayadashami, the final day of the state’s largest festival.

Reflecting on the carnival’s personal significance, CM Saha shared that this year’s event took place at a new, more spacious venue.

“We have been organising this carnival for three years in Agartala. The previous venue was quite congested, so we shifted it. This new location holds historical value—during my childhood, processions used to start from here, not as grand but full of love and excitement,” he told ANI.

The Durga Puja festival, or Durgotsava, is Tripura’s biggest celebration, honouring Goddess Durga’s victory over the demon Mahishasura.

It showcases the vibrant cultural and religious spirit of the region. This year’s celebrations were filled with enthusiasm, with streets packed with devotees and tourists alike.

Earlier, during Maha Ashtami on October 12, large crowds filled the streets, especially around the Sanhati Club pandal, which emerged as a major attraction.

Known for its elaborate artistic decorations and cultural activities, the pandal drew the highest number of visitors. With a substantial budget, it captivated audiences with intricate designs, further enhancing Tripura’s festive fervour.
