Tripura CM Manik Saha Highlights Efforts for Cultural Preservation and SC Welfare at Literary Festival

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has reaffirmed his government’s dedication to preserving folk culture and promoting the comprehensive development of Scheduled Caste (SC) communities.

Speaking at the inauguration of a three-day festival commemorating the 111th birth anniversary of literary icon Advaita Mallabarman, Saha paid tribute to the renowned author, whose legacy continues to inspire.

Mallabarman, best known for his timeless novel Titas Ekti Nadir Naam, passed away at just 37 but left a profound mark on Bengali literature. Highlighting his contributions, the chief minister described Mallabarman’s works as deeply rooted in personal experiences, offering a window into resilience and creativity despite struggles with poverty.

Saha emphasized the importance of preserving folk culture and supporting underprivileged communities. Sharing anecdotes from Mallabarman’s life, he lauded the author’s dedication to literature and the indelible influence of his essays, novels, and translations on Indian literary heritage.

The chief minister also detailed the state government’s initiatives for SC welfare, implemented since 2018-19. These include programs like the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana, Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostel Scheme, and self-reliance schemes, which have collectively benefited thousands of SC families through significant financial investments. Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the socio-economic upliftment of these communities.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Minister of Scheduled Caste Welfare Sudhanshu Das, MLAs Kishore Barman and Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Chairperson Supriya Das Dutta, and senior officials from the SC Welfare Department.

The festival not only honored Advaita Mallabarman’s enduring legacy but also served as a platform to highlight the Tripura government’s efforts in cultural preservation and social welfare, showcasing its vision for inclusive development.
