Tripura CM Manik Saha Holds Crucial Talks with Central Ministers on State Development

Northeast Desk, 28th June: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha engaged in a series of high-level meetings with key Union Ministers in New Delhi on June 28, focusing on enhancing the state’s development agenda.

In a significant gathering at the New Parliament Building, CM Saha met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss various developmental initiatives. During the meeting, CM Saha conveyed Tripura’s enthusiasm for Modi’s third term as Prime Minister and underscored the state’s commitment to comprehensive development.

Among the key requests made during the discussions with PM Modi were the establishment of a new railway link from Belonia in Tripura to Feni in Bangladesh, enhancing Indo-Bangladesh connectivity via the Maitri Bridge, and upgrading the Agartala Airport to international status. Additionally, CM Saha proposed the construction of 15 new Ekalavya Model Residential Schools and the establishment of an Agar International Trade and Research Centre in Agartala.

Later in the day, CM Saha met with Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, seeking the transfer of GREF land to Tripura and the establishment of a Sainik School in Teliamura. He also held talks with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda, advocating for an AIIMS-like institute in the state and other healthcare initiatives.

In a separate meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, CM Saha discussed security-related issues, including the sanctioning of two additional IR battalions and funding for enhancing seizure and disposal infrastructure for narcotics.

The meetings underscored Tripura’s proactive approach in securing central support for various developmental projects aimed at transforming the state’s infrastructure and welfare services.
