Tripura: CM Manik Saha holds door-to-door campaign ahead of Lok Sabha elections in Golaghati constituency
Northeast Desk, 21st March: Amid preparations for the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha conducted a door-to-door campaign on Thursday in Kanchmala gram panchayat of Golaghati constituency, engaging residents about various schemes under the BJP-led government.
In the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections, Manab Debbarma of the Tipra Motha Party (TPM) emerged victorious in the Golaghati constituency.
In a significant political development, major opposition parties, including CPIM, Congress, Gana Manch, All Tripura Peoples Party, CPI, and CPIML, united under the banner of the INDIA Alliance to challenge the ruling BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The announcement came during a press conference at the Agartala Press Club Conference Hall on Wednesday, attended by key figures such as Jitendra Chowdhury, Tripura’s opposition leader, and Ashish Kumar Saha, TPCC President & candidate for the West Lok Sabha constituency.
The coalition aims to combat the “fascist government” at both state and central levels during the Lok Sabha Election, challenging the BJP, Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, and the Tripra MOTHA government.
This alliance signifies a significant shift in Tripura’s political landscape, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral battle.
The Election Commission of India issued the notification for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, slated for April 19.
According to the notification, March 28 is the last date for filing nominations for Bihar, and March 27 for other states and union territories.
March 30 has been designated as the date for scrutiny of nominations for Bihar and March 28 for others.
Polling will be conducted in seven phases across the nation from April 19 to June 1, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.
