Tripura CM Manik Saha Lauds Police Efforts at All India Police Football Championship
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday, February 24, praised the Tripura Police for their commitment to maintaining law and order while actively participating in social initiatives.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 73rd B.N. Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2024-25 at Umakanta Mini Stadium, Agartala, Dr. Saha underscored the significance of hosting the prestigious tournament in Tripura for the first time.
With 46 police teams from different states and 1,400 participants, the tournament will be held across five venues in three districts. Acknowledging the public perception of the police, Dr. Saha emphasized that their primary duty is to protect citizens and uphold law and order.
Beyond law enforcement, he highlighted the 150-year legacy of Tripura Police, commending their achievements in sports and community service. During Tripura Police Week, he personally witnessed their dedication and noted their national and international sporting accolades as a matter of pride. He also extended appreciation to DGP Amitabh Ranjan and his team for strengthening security in the state.
Dr. Saha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for bringing peace to the Northeast, recalling that Tripura was once plagued by terrorism. The signing of over 12 peace accords has ensured stability in the region, further reinforcing public trust in law enforcement.
He also spoke about the HIRA model (Highways, Internet, Railways, Airways), which has transformed Tripura’s infrastructure. Encouraging participants to explore the state’s tourism potential, Dr. Saha concluded by emphasizing that Tripura is now a beacon of progress, security, and sporting excellence.
