Tripura CM Manik Saha Launches BJP’s Ambitious Membership Drive, Aims for 12 Lakh New Members
Northeast Desk, 3rd September: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha officially launched the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state-level membership drive on Tuesday, setting an ambitious target of enrolling 12 lakh new members. The event, held at the BJP state headquarters, saw the presence of state unit president Rajib Bhattacharjee, marking a significant step in the party’s expansion efforts.
This drive is part of a nationwide initiative kicked off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Monday, with BJP President JP Nadda also participating. The nationwide goal is to add 10 crore new members during the first phase of the drive.
During the launch, CM Saha renewed his own membership through a mobile app, demonstrating the party’s adoption of digital tools to streamline the process. He recounted the success of the 2019 membership drive, during which 1.24 lakh members were enrolled under his leadership as the state chief of the drive.
Saha expressed confidence in achieving the new target, highlighting that BJP’s current membership in Tripura has already grown to 6.50 lakh. He encouraged the citizens of Tripura to join the BJP as primary members, emphasizing the party’s commitment to national development.
To ensure the drive’s success, the BJP has organized training sessions for volunteers involved in the membership process. The state general secretary, Bhagaban Das, has been appointed as the in-charge of the membership drive, tasked with overseeing its execution across Tripura.
Saha’s optimism reflects the party’s strategy to expand its base in the state, building on the momentum from previous membership drives.
