Tripura: CM Manik Saha To Take Oath as MLA On July 8
Guwahati: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who won the assembly by-election for the Town Bardowali seat will be sworn in as an MLA on July 8.
This was informed by Tripura Speaker Ratan Chakraborty on Monday.
Earlier today, Saha submitted his resignation as a Rajya Sabha MP to M Venkiah Naidu, chairman of the body and vice-president, the speaker told reporters.
Sudip Roy Barman (Congress), Manila Debnath (BJP), and Swapna Das (BJP), three of the four MLAs chosen in the by-election, were sworn in on June 29. Saha skipped taking the oath for “technical issues.”
Saha succeeded Biplab Kumar Deb as the leader of Tripura on May 14.
The former lawmaker who is a dentist ran in the by-election on June 26 in order to satisfy the constitutional requirement.
Saha also serves as the BJP’s state leader.
