Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced an ambitious infrastructure development plan with a budget allocation of approximately Rs 7,000 crore, aimed at transforming the state’s growth across multiple sectors.

The comprehensive strategy, unveiled during a foundation-stone laying ceremony at Ramesh English Medium Higher Secondary School in Udaipur, focuses on communication, healthcare, education, and sports infrastructure, marking a significant push toward modernization.

A major highlight of the initiative is the development of three satellite towns in Agartala, Dharmanagar, and Udaipur. These planned urban centers are expected to enhance connectivity and streamline regional development, contributing to the state’s modernization goals. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Saha emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to improving infrastructure, calling it a vital step in boosting the overall quality of life for the people of Tripura.

Healthcare is at the forefront of this transformative plan. The Chief Minister highlighted significant advancements in medical services, including the establishment of super-specialty facilities at the Agartala Government Medical College and the introduction of kidney transplant services. Plans are also in motion to begin liver transplants at GB Hospital, further cementing Tripura’s position as a hub for advanced healthcare in the region. A dental college, already operational, adds another layer to the state’s expanding healthcare landscape.

In addition to healthcare, the infrastructure drive includes projects worth over Rs 147 crore. These projects encompass the construction of the Udaipur Municipal Council building, a shopping mall, and an auditorium at a combined cost of Rs 44 crore, a Vigyan Bhavan at Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya for Rs 40 crore, a 200-bed youth hostel costing Rs 16.25 crore, and a new District Magistrate’s office building at Rs 24.20 crore. These projects reflect the government’s vision of fostering economic growth while enhancing community spaces.

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of investing in sports and education, viewing these sectors as pivotal to youth development. Highlighting the role of sports in tackling societal challenges, he stressed its potential to shield young people from issues such as addiction, thereby fostering a healthier and more productive generation.

Special attention is also being given to tribal areas, with plans to establish Eklavya Model Residential Schools to provide quality education to marginalized communities. By prioritizing the strengthening of educational infrastructure in tribal regions, the government aims to ensure inclusive growth and equal opportunities for all.

The Rs 7,000 crore infrastructure development plan is set to reshape Tripura’s developmental landscape, reflecting the government’s commitment to a future marked by progress, innovation, and social upliftment.
