Tripura Congress Protests Against Lawlessness, Demands Restoration of Law and Order
Northeast Desk, 23th September: The Tripura Pradesh Congress staged a massive protest rally in Agartala on Monday, condemning the alleged bias of the Tripura Police and demanding the restoration of law, democracy, and constitutional safeguards in the state. Led by Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha, along with MLAs Sudip Roy Barman, Gopal Chandra Roy, and former Congress President Pijush Kanti Biswas, the rally culminated in a demonstration outside the Police Headquarters.
Saha criticized the ruling BJP government, accusing them of turning elections into a farce, promoting lawlessness, and encouraging violence against women and opposition party workers. The Congress delegation met with DGP Amitabh Ranjan to submit a memorandum, demanding immediate steps to restore law and order.
Saha pointed out the rising incidents of violence, including gang rapes and murders, accusing the police of downplaying serious crimes to protect BJP-backed criminals. He warned that if the police continue to neglect their duties, the Congress would organize state-wide protests.
