Tripura: Durga Puja pandal caught fire in Agartala, CM extends help
Northeast Desk, 18th October: A Durga Puja pandal in Ujan Abhoynagar on the outskirts of Agartala city was completely consumed by fire on October 18.
The incident is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short-circuit.
The structure where the Durga idol was to be placed during the Puja days was also damaged in the blaze.
The organizers of the community Puja, the Blood Sun Club, have claimed that a delayed response from the Fire Department contributed to the extent of the fire damage. However, firefighters contest these allegations, asserting that they acted within one and a half minutes to control the fire.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his concern about the incident.
“I am deeply pained to hear that an under-construction Puja pandal of the Blood Sun club located in Ujan Abhoynagar suddenly caught fire,” Dr. Saha wrote on his social media handle, extending solidarity to the Puja organizers. He also appealed to the Puja organisers to follow all safety measures while carrying out construction work for the Puja.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has assured the puja organizers of the Blood Sun Club in Agartala of necessary government assistance after their puja mandap was severely damaged by the fire. He visited the affected club, acknowledging the total destruction of the puja mandap in the incident. Dr. Saha affirmed that the government would provide the required support to the organizers and dispatched a Sub-divisional Magistrate to assist the club.
