Tripura Eyes Major Investment as Reliance Jio Explores State’s Potential

Agartala: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha engaged with a delegation from Reliance Jio on Saturday, marking a significant step in Tripura’s pursuit of substantial investment.

The meeting, as detailed by Dr. Saha on his Facebook platform, stemmed from prior dialogues with Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, held in Mumbai and at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati.

During these interactions, Dr. Saha articulated his vision for a developed Tripura, soliciting Ambani’s support to realize this ambition.

The Reliance Jio team, led by their North Eastern Zone Business Head, embarked on a fact-finding mission to identify viable investment prospects across several pivotal sectors. These sectors included Information Technology and IT-enabled services, the establishment of Data Centres, the exploration of Natural Gas and subsequent fertilizer production, the Petroleum industry, Ethanol production utilizing Bamboo, the manufacturing of Rubber wood furniture, Agro-Food processing, and the Tourism sector.

Dr. Saha expressed particular excitement regarding the team’s keen interest in the IT sector, signaling a potential focal point for future collaboration. The Chief Minister conveyed optimism about forging a partnership with Reliance Group of Industries to collectively steer Tripura’s developmental trajectory.

Reinforcing the state’s growing appeal to investors, Dr. Saha disclosed earlier that numerous entities have already expressed interest and formalized their intent through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Tripura government.

He highlighted his direct engagements with prominent business leaders, including Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of the Tata Group, all of whom have pledged their commitment to investing in Tripura. This influx of prospective investment is anticipated to catalyze significant progress for the state.
