Agartala, Tripura – In a significant move aimed at advancing traditional medical practices, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has unveiled plans for the establishment of a dedicated homeopathy medical college within the state. This announcement, made during a World Homeopathy Day program held at Pragya Bhavan, signals the government’s commitment to expanding and strengthening homeopathic treatment options for its citizens.
The Chief Minister’s declaration comes amidst the state’s existing healthcare infrastructure, which currently comprises three medical colleges and a dental college. Saha emphasized that the proposed homeopathy medical college is envisioned as a pivotal step towards the comprehensive development of homeopathic care across Tripura. He disclosed that recent visits to the state homeopathy hospital had sparked interest from potential investors, who have expressed a keen desire to contribute to this initiative.
Saha, who himself holds a professional background in dentistry, underscored the importance of rigorous research within the field of homeopathy. He acknowledged that public skepticism regarding the efficacy of homeopathic treatments persists, and he called upon medical practitioners to actively address these doubts. He highlighted the long-term benefits of homeopathy, noting its potential for sustained relief and its comparatively minimal side effects.
Furthermore, Saha urged homeopathy medical officers to proactively share their successful treatment outcomes with the public to foster greater trust and acceptance. He stressed that while homeopathy may not offer immediate results, its value lies in its holistic and enduring approach to patient care. The state currently employs 173 homeopathy medical officers within its government hospitals, who will play a crucial role in realizing the government’s vision for enhanced homeopathic services.
