Tripura Film & Television Institute Inaugurated Under SRFTI In Agartala
Guwahati: The Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI), a branch of the Kolkata-based Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) has been officially inaugurated in Agartala by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha.
According to SRFTI Director Himansu Sekhar Khatuav the first batch of TFTI sessions which will include 47 students will begin in the first week of December .
He continued by saying that while the SRFTI had initially developed short-term courses the institute will soon begin offering diploma, graduate and postgraduate programmes.
A well-known actor from Bangladesh Ferdous Ahmed spoke during the opening ceremony and predicted that the institute will attract many students from his nation.
The Tripura and Bangladeshi governments would shortly host a film festival in Agartala, he added.
The Chief Minister referred to the opening of the TFTI as a historic occasion and stated that the institute would open doors for talented young people interested in pursuing careers in acting, producing and filmmaking.
The deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma and the minister of information and cultural affairs Sushanta Chowdhury among others spoke on the occasion.
