Tripura Gears Up for Second National Lok Adalat on May 10 with Over 21,000 Cases Listed for Settlement

Agartala — The second National Lok Adalat of the year is set to be held across Tripura on Saturday, May 10, spanning from the Tripura High Court to all district and sub-division court premises.

According to Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury, Member-Secretary of Tripura Lok Adalat, a total of 21,410 cases have been listed for resolution across 40 benches.

These include:
• 339 motor accident compensation claims
• 221 marital dispute cases
• 5,457 bank loan repayment issues
• 1,000 BSNL bill payment cases
• 14,264 compoundable criminal cases under the MB Act, TP Act, TG Act, and Excise Act
• 63 cheque bounce cases under the NI Act
• 9 consumer complaints
• 48 electricity bill disputes
• 8 employment-related cases

Notices have been sent to all concerned parties, and many have already begun the pre-conciliation process by visiting the offices of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Sub-division Legal Services Authority (SDLSA) since May 5.

To streamline the process, Odhikar Mitra volunteers will be present to assist participants during the proceedings.

Justice Amarnath Gaur, Executive Chairman of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, has issued detailed directives to ensure the Lok Adalat is conducted efficiently and effectively across the state.
