Tripura Girls to Benefit from New Government Schemes, Minister Announces
Agartala: Agartala witnessed a significant announcement as Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda unveiled two novel initiatives aimed at empowering the girl child within the state.
The schemes, named Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana, were revealed during a large public gathering at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, commemorating the second anniversary of the BJP-led Tripura government.
The Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana, as detailed by Nadda, will see the state government deposit a bond of ₹50,000 for every girl child born into a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family in Tripura. This bond is designed to mature into ₹10 lakh when the girl reaches the age of 18, providing substantial financial support for her future.
In addition, the Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana, an expansion of a previous plan, will now provide 140 female students with scooties, up from the initially planned 100, recognizing their academic achievements.
Nadda expressed his admiration for the public’s engagement, asserting that the administration, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, is effectively representing the populace. He emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering services to the most remote areas, ensuring that policies translate into tangible benefits for the residents of Tripura. He further acknowledged the successful completion of two years of governance, in addition to the preceding five years, and thanked the people of Tripura for their continued electoral support, including the BJP’s victories in both Lok Sabha seats in 2019 and 2024.
Highlighting the BJP’s ethos, Nadda stressed that their pursuit is not merely for power, but for the opportunity to serve. He portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “Prime Servant,” and characterized the Tripura government as one dedicated to the welfare of rural communities, the underprivileged, tribal populations, women, youth, and farmers. He affirmed the government’s dedication to inclusivity and care for all segments of society.
Nadda also used the occasion to criticize the CPIM and Congress parties, accusing the former regime of fostering an environment of violence and bloodshed in Tripura. He contrasted this with the current state of affairs, pointing to a 20% reduction in the crime rate, positioning Tripura as one of the safest states in the nation. He further condemned the recent electoral alliance between the Communist Party and Congress, alleging their desperation for power and recalling instances of violence, rape, and murder during their past governance.
