Tripura Government Boosts Indigenous Culture Preservation, Allocates Funds for Brahmakunda Mela Development
Agartala: The Tripura government has underscored its commitment to safeguarding the culture and traditions of the state’s indigenous communities, a declaration made by Chief Minister Manik Saha during the inauguration of the Brahmakunda Mela.
Speaking at Simna in the Mohanpur Sub-Division of West Tripura district, Chief Minister Saha announced the sanctioning of Rs 14 crore for the beautification and further development of the Brahmakunda Mela premises.
Chief Minister Saha shared his insights into the significance of the Brahmakunda Mela, noting its biannual occurrence as a tradition where people perform rituals in remembrance of their ancestors. He acknowledged a past participation from individuals in Bangladesh, which has been affected by the current situation across the border.
Highlighting the mela’s broader appeal, he emphasized that it serves as a vibrant showcase of Tripura’s rich culture and heritage, aligning with the state’s vision of ‘Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura’. He also observed the significant presence of women at the event, expressing hope that this cultural legacy will be passed down to future generations and that people cherish these moments of cultural immersion.
Reiterating the government’s priorities, Chief Minister Saha stated, “Our government is working to protect the culture of the indigenous people. We have 19 tribal communities, each with its own unique culture and traditions. We are making efforts to restore and preserve their heritage through various initiatives so that it does not get lost.” He further emphasized the educational value of such gatherings, noting that the Brahmakunda Mela will continue for three days.
Chief Minister Saha also highlighted the government’s broader developmental agenda, stating that various events are organized to promote awareness of the state’s rich culture and history, fostering a sense of pride. He linked the sanctioned funds for the Brahmakunda Mela to a larger strategy of infrastructure development aimed at attracting more visitors and investments, ultimately leading to overall progress in the state. He concluded by asserting the government’s dedication to the welfare of its people, drawing a parallel with Prime Minister Modi’s national efforts.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brisketu Debbarma and other key administrative figures.
