Tripura Government Issues Advisory on Hot and Humid Weather Conditions
Northeast Desk, 23rd April: The Tripura government’s revenue department has declared the ongoing hot and humid weather conditions in the state as State Specific Disasters. In response, it has issued an advisory directing the District Administrations to take necessary measures for the safety and security of citizens.
According to the order, Tripura has been experiencing hot and humid weather conditions for the past week, with forecasts indicating a continuation of similar conditions in the coming days, as per the IMD report.
The advisory highlights concerns from the medical fraternity regarding potential sunstrokes and advises the public to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. The government has already declared Heat Wave, Sun Stroke, and Sun Burn as State Specific Disasters in Tripura.
To manage the effects of the hot and humid weather, District Disaster Management Authorities have been instructed to raise awareness through various media channels, provide safe drinking water and shaded areas in public places, and extend medical support to vulnerable communities.
Furthermore, the advisory emphasizes the activation of Emergency Operation Centres, alerting Quick Response Teams, ensuring uninterrupted power supply, and seeking support from key agencies for citizen safety.
Citizens are urged to avoid outdoor activities between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, stay hydrated by drinking more water than usual, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, use protective gear like goggles and hats, and refrain from consuming dehydrating beverages.
Farmers are advised to continue irrigation activities for summer crops and vegetables, provide shelter and ventilation for animals, especially during the afternoon hours.
The advisory underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ well-being during adverse weather conditions and urges proactive measures to mitigate potential risks.
