Tripura Government Launches Initiative to Modernize Power Transmission Lines

Northeast Desk, 7th August: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced a comprehensive plan to upgrade the state’s power infrastructure by replacing outdated power transmission lines. This initiative aims to provide uninterrupted power services to the residents of Tripura.

During his visit to the State Load Dispatch Center of the Power Department at 79 Tilla in Agartala, CM Saha outlined the government’s plans, which include the introduction of underground cable lines for power supply. This phase will begin in Agartala, with the intention to expand statewide.

CM Saha received a detailed briefing on the state’s power supply and management systems and conducted an on-site inspection during his visit. He emphasized the continuous monitoring efforts by the State Load Dispatch Center to ensure reliable power generation, transmission, and distribution.

“The Central Government has awarded ISO certification to the State Load Despatch Centers in the state for meeting cyber security norms, which is significant for the state,” stated CM Saha.

He highlighted that Tripura is the only state in the Northeastern region supplying electricity to neighboring Bangladesh, reflecting the state’s advanced power infrastructure capabilities.

“The government continues to make efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply to electricity consumers in the state. The government has also initiated the replacement of old power transmission lines. The use of solar energy as an alternative energy source is also being encouraged,” CM Saha added.

The chief minister also addressed the concerning issue of attacks on electricity workers, condemning such incidents and reaffirming the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of power sector employees.
