Tripura Government Pledges Holistic Development, Focus on Rural Upliftment
Khowai: The Tripura government is steadfast in its commitment to ushering in comprehensive development across the state and fortifying citizen-centric infrastructure. This resolve was reiterated by Chief Minister Manik Saha, who underscored the administration’s paramount focus on infrastructure enhancement and the upliftment of the financial well-being of rural populace.
Chief Minister Saha conveyed these sentiments while inaugurating a slew of development initiatives at the Baijalbari H.S. School Ground in Khowai District. The projects included the official opening of the Baijalbari Police Station, the new 50-seat ST Boys’ Hostel building, and the virtual launch of six additional development schemes. Furthermore, six more projects were virtually inaugurated on the same occasion, reflecting a concerted effort towards widespread progress.
Addressing the gathering, CM Saha emphasised the unique composite culture of Tripura and lauded the strides made in establishing peace and harmony over the past few years. He asserted that the state is currently operating smoothly and that continued collective effort would pave the way for an “Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura.” He firmly stated that peace and harmony are indispensable for any meaningful advancement.
The Chief Minister highlighted that previously, the underprivileged sections of society were often overlooked, and Tripura lagged in development. However, he maintained that with the advent of the current government, the pace of development has accelerated considerably. He pointed out India’s robust economic growth, securing its position as the world’s fourth-largest economy, and referenced Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, underscoring the Prime Minister’s consistent concern for the poor.
CM Saha elaborated on the state government’s specific emphasis on key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and communication systems. He affirmed the government’s dedicated focus on the overall development of tribal communities. He also stressed the importance of self-reliance, noting a substantial increase in self-help groups within the state. The Chief Minister underlined the strategic utilisation of Tripura’s indigenous resources like bamboo, agar, rubber, natural gas, and agricultural produce to foster socio-economic growth.
Furthering his address, the Chief Minister underscored the government’s unwavering attention to the economic betterment of rural residents. He highlighted the effective implementation of the Prime Minister’s flagship schemes in the state, drawing parallels with the ‘Ayushman Bharat Jana Arogya Yojana’ and the state’s own ‘Chief Minister’s Jana Arogya Yojana’ aimed at providing accessible medical services. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life, promoting education and health, and creating ample employment opportunities.
Speaking on law and order, CM Saha informed that the crime rate in Tripura had seen a significant reduction of 19.4 per cent in the fiscal year 2023-24, signifying improved governance. He also announced recent appointments within the police force, stating that 975 male and female constables, including 332 women, were appointed on May 13. Furthermore, approval has been granted for the appointment of 916 more constables, and over 6,000 special executive posts are slated for appointment. Additionally, 218 sub-inspector positions have also received approval for recruitment.
The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Khowai District Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy Dutta, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, DGP Anurag, Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Pant, Director of Panchayat Department Prasun Dey, District Superintendent of Police Ranaditya Das, alongside other public representatives and senior administrative officials.
