Tripura Governor Highlights Consumer Rights, Road Safety, and Drug Abuse at Agartala Event
Agartala: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu underscored the importance of collective responsibility during a programme held at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala, addressing critical issues including consumer protection, road safety, and drug abuse.
The event brought together dignitaries, officials, and citizens to engage in discussions aimed at fostering a safer and more ethical society.
In his address, Governor Reddy emphasised the need to uphold consumer rights and urged citizens to support ethical businesses while remaining vigilant against unfair practices.
Highlighting the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, he called for proactive measures to safeguard local producers, artisans, and farmers, recognising their significant contributions to Tripura’s economic fabric.
Turning his focus to road safety, the Governor appealed to the public to follow traffic rules, wear helmets, and respect speed limits, stressing that road accidents are preventable.
He called for a cultural shift towards safety and mutual respect on the roads, urging collective efforts to reduce accidents and save lives.
The Governor expressed deep concern over the rising menace of drug abuse, pointing to its devastating impact on families and communities.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the issue through stringent law enforcement, rehabilitation initiatives, and public awareness campaigns.
Calling on parents, teachers, and community leaders to educate and support at-risk individuals, he emphasised the need for a united front in combating substance abuse.
Concluding his speech, Governor Reddy highlighted the interconnected nature of consumer protection, road safety, and the fight against drug abuse, urging a coordinated approach to build a prosperous and ethical Tripura.
He commended the efforts of law enforcement agencies, NGOs, educators, and active citizens, encouraging greater participation to address these pressing challenges.
The programme was attended by several prominent figures, including Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chaudhary, Power and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder.
The event concluded with attendees pledging to work collectively towards creating a safer and more accountable society.
