Tripura Govt Announces 5% DA Hike ahead of Assembly polls

Guwahati: The Tripura government has approved a proposal for a 5 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and retirees with effect from July 1, said Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

The decision was made in advance of the state’s upcoming assembly election in March of the following year. “Despite limited resources, the council of ministers accepted a proposal to provide its employees 5% DA. The additional annual burden for the government will be Rs. 523.80 crore “He informed journalists on Tuesday evening.

1,04,683 regular employees and 80,855 pensioners totaling 1,88,494 persons will profit. The DA for state government employees has increased with this decision from three percent to eight percent of their base wage.

According to a PTI report, the difference between central and state government employees continues at 26% despite the fact that central government employees are now receiving DA at a rate of 34% of basic pay.

The decision was well received by the Tripura Government Employees’ Federation (TGEF). “We applaud the government’s decision to increase the daily allowance by 5%, but the difference from central government employees is still too great. We anticipate that the state government would do so “Samar Roy, the TGEF secretary general, said PTI.

Additionally, Chowdhury stated that the Tripura Public Service Commission would be used to hire 200 engineers for the Public Works Department. He indicated that civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering students who have graduated will be eligible. In the near future, the Health Department will also hire 100 staff nurses, 22 pharmacists, and 39 laboratory assistants, the minister said.
