Guwahati: TIPRA Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma claimed today that the current government is opposed to both the CPIM and the TIPRA Motha.
The statement of the Pradyot who is also the royal scion of the state came after Tripura Sports Council didn’t give permission to use a stage for holding a mass gathering of TIPRA Motha that will be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan on November 12.
While speaking with reporters, Pradyot said, “Our programme is on November 12, and I came here to inspect the progress. But it’s particularly terrible that, despite receiving full payment, the Tripura Sports Council, whose jurisdiction includes the Swami Vivekananda Ground, denied us permission to use the stage. When it comes to the Prime Minister’s programme, they will provide everything, but when it comes to TIPRA Motha, they won’t grant stage access. Therefore, we have built a stage. But as far as I’m aware, the prime minister won’t be visiting this month. All should be heard by the government. I initially believed that this government opposed the CPIM, but now I believe it also opposes the TIPRA Motha.”
He added that workers and supporters of TIPRA Motha are unable to reach in automobiles in Agartala for the huge gathering due to the syndicates of various motor stands.
“I’m hoping there will be a larger turnout this time than last. But there are difficulties. Workers and I are pleading with anyone who wants to attend to arrive a day before the programme since several motor stand syndicates are not allowing vehicles to transport our supporters. Everyone ought to attend. There won’t be a rally or a catchphrase. I don’t want any chants or slogans that are derogatory to any group or faith. This programme for constitutional demand will be nonviolent. We want to send a message to the nation that our citizens can express their opinions democratically and peacefully without resorting to violence. We want peace throughout the state”, said Pradyot.
