Tripura: High-Stakes Drug Bust in Agartala as Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth Crores
Agartala: In a significant breakthrough against the narcotics trade, the West Tripura District police late last night seized a massive consignment of 90,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 1.35 crore. The bust, executed near the Amtali Bypass on the outskirts of Agartala, saw the interception of an auto-rickshaw and the arrest of one individual.
Acting on a specific intelligence tip-off, police officials had ramped up surveillance in the area, leading to the successful operation.
West Tripura Superintendent of Police, Namit Pathak, informed the media that intensified patrolling resulted in the identification of a suspicious auto-rickshaw near a local dhaba. Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, officers discovered nine carefully concealed boxes filled with the contraband tablets. The driver, identified as Subir Sutradhar, was immediately taken into custody. The auto-rickshaw was reportedly on its way from Khayerpur to the Amtali area when it was intercepted. Police have registered a case and launched a full-fledged investigation to dismantle the larger network responsible for this smuggling attempt. The seized narcotics and the vehicle have been taken into police possession as evidence.
