Tripura HR Commission Orders Probe into Sexual Harassment Allegations

Agartala: The Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) has initiated an inquiry into a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female clerk against a senior official in the Rural Development Department. The commission has directed the department’s secretary to submit an inquiry report by January 3, 2025.

The complainant, whose identity has been withheld, accused Subhendu Dasgupta, a Head Assistant in the department, of sexually harassing her at the workplace. She alleged that despite filing complaints with the Section Officer and Deputy Secretary of the department, no action was taken.

The THRC order stated that the commission, after considering the allegations, deemed it necessary to investigate the matter. The secretary of the Rural Development Department has been tasked with conducting the inquiry and submitting a report within four weeks.
