Tripura: Indigo Airlines employee among two arrested with cannabis worth Rs 3 lakh at MBB airport in Agartala

Northeast Desk, 27th November: Tripura Police on November 27 apprehended two individuals including an employee of Indigo Airlines in connection with the seizure of cannabis valued at Rs 3 lakh at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.

The Airport police station acted on a tip regarding the smuggling of cannabis out of the state.

During a thorough search, 20 kg of dry ganja was discovered in the possession of Sudip Debbarma.

Another individual, identified as Nelson Jamatia, an executive security officer at Indigo Airlines, was arrested for his alleged involvement in aiding and abetting the smuggling operation.

Parmita Pandey, the Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of New Capital Complex, stated that the police have initiated an investigation, and a case has been filed against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Both individuals were produced before the court, where remand was sought for further questioning. The SDPO indicated the possibility of more revelations during the remand process and suggested that additional individuals might be connected to the smuggling ring.
