Tripura initiates 30-megawatt hydropower plants to boost renewable energy

Northeast, 4th October: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced the commencement of work on 30-megawatt small hydropower plants in various locations across the state by Tripura Power Generation Limited (TPGL).

During a workshop on “Energy Transition of Tripura,” Dr. Saha emphasized the global significance of renewable energy in promoting environmental cleanliness and preserving resources.

He highlighted India’s commitment to renewable energy and outlined infrastructural advancements, including the establishment of renewable energy centers and projects such as 120-megawatt and 84-megawatt Combined Cycle Power Plants.

The state aims to generate 500 megawatts of renewable power by 2030 through various sources like solar and micro tech solar.
