Tripura Intensifies Border Surveillance Amid Bangladesh Crisis

Northeast Desk, 6th August: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced on Tuesday that the state government is significantly increasing surveillance along the international border with Bangladesh in response to the ongoing crisis in the neighboring country.

Dr. Saha, who also holds the position of Home Minister for Tripura, emphasized the necessity of preventing unauthorized crossings into the state. He confirmed that the government is in constant communication with central authorities and is coordinating with various security agencies, including the Tripura Police, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Force.

“I am in regular contact with the central government and have discussed the situation with the Chief Secretary, Tripura Police, Assam Rifles, and other security agencies. We are implementing measures as directed by the Centre to secure the border,” Dr. Saha stated during a press briefing.

The Chief Minister reiterated that no unauthorized entries into Tripura are currently being allowed. “I have instructed all security agencies to work in unison to prevent any unauthorized entry into the state. At present, we are not permitting anyone to cross into Tripura,” he said.

Dr. Saha condemned the recent attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, describing them as unacceptable. He also praised efforts by some members of the Muslim community in Bangladesh who have been actively protecting minorities and religious sites.

“It is encouraging to see that many, including students, are stepping forward to provide protection to Hindu minorities and temples in Bangladesh. We are closely monitoring these developments,” Dr. Saha added.

The Chief Minister confirmed that the Centre has been receiving updates on the situation and reported that Tripura has not encountered any issues so far.
