Tripura: Joint Operation at Agartala Railway Station Nets Three Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals
Agartala: In a coordinated effort, Tripura’s intelligence department, alongside the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Border Security Force (BSF), successfully apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station on April 19th. The individuals, including one woman, were intercepted during a joint operation conducted at the railway hub.
Police reports indicate that initial inquiries suggest the three individuals had unlawfully entered Indian territory. Their intended route involved traveling to southern states via train, with Kolkata serving as a transit point. Law enforcement agencies suspect their travel was facilitated by a larger network involved in human trafficking or illegal immigration activities.
The identities of those apprehended have been confirmed as Kamrun Nessa, a 23-year-old female residing in Dhaka, and two male individuals: Md. Ismail Hossain, 22, and Md. Noor Hossain, 25, both hailing from Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Currently, the three are under interrogation at the Agartala GRP Police Station. Authorities anticipate that the ongoing questioning will yield further crucial details, potentially leading to additional arrests as the investigation unfolds. Police sources have hinted at the expectation of extracting significant information during extended questioning sessions.
A formal case has been registered at the Agartala GRP Police Station in connection with this incident. The accused are scheduled to be presented before the Hon’ble Court on the following day. Authorities are treating this matter with utmost seriousness, viewing it as a significant breach of national security, and are actively pursuing efforts to dismantle the entire illegal network involved.
This apprehension follows a recent crackdown in Delhi, where the staff of Police Station South Campus, South West District, detained eight Bangladeshi nationals found to be residing unlawfully in different parts of the city, underscoring the continued efforts to combat illegal immigration across the nation.
