Tripura: Joint Rail Forces Nab Trio with Over 3 kg Ganja at Agartala Station

Agartala: In a significant late-night swoop on July 7, a collaborative effort by the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) led to the apprehension of three suspected drug peddlers at Agartala Railway Station. The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of dry ganja, weighing in at 3 kilograms and 240 grams.

The contraband, meticulously concealed within a single packet stashed inside a bag, was unearthed by the vigilant forces. Initial questioning of the arrested individuals revealed their alleged intent to transport the illicit substance to Chennai, where it was estimated to command a market value of up to Rs 1 lakh.

The arrested have been identified as Kabir Hossain (25) from North Shilgati Jamiya Tila, Kakraban PS, Gomti district; Jagir Mia (24) of Sepahijala district; and Manik Mia (25), also from Sepahijala district. A case has been registered against them under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Agartala GRP police station. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger drug trafficking network and indicated the possibility of further arrests as investigations progress. The trio was slated to be presented before the court on July 8.
