Tripura: Kharchi Puja Commences in Agartala with Traditional Fervor and Political Greetings

Northeast Desk, 16th July: The ancient Kharchi Puja, a seven-day-long festival dedicated to Chaturdash Devata, commenced at the revered 14 God temple, Chaturdash Devta Mandir, in Old Agartala on July 14.

Kharchi Puja holds immense significance among the Tripuri people, focusing on the worship of Chaturdasa Devata, their ancestral deity.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha actively participated in the inaugural rituals of the ‘Kharchi puja’, emphasizing the cultural and religious importance of the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the microblogging site X to extend his wishes, saying, “Wishing everyone, particularly the people of Tripura, on the occasion of Kharchi Puja! May the divine blessings of Chaturdash Devata always remain upon us, bringing joy and good health to all. May it also enrich everyone’s lives with prosperity and harmony.”

Meanwhile, DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia conveyed his greetings, stating, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to my brothers and sisters of Tripura on the auspicious occasion of Kharchi Puja. I pray to Chaturdasha Devta to bless everyone with happiness, peace, health and prosperity.”

Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his heartfelt wishes, saying, “My heartfelt best wishes to our sisters and brothers in Tripura on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. May this festival of bonding with Mother Earth bring prosperity, happiness, and good health to everyone.”

The festival not only celebrates cultural heritage but also serves as a unifying event that brings together spiritual devotion and political harmony among the people of Tripura.
