Tripura: Khowai District Launches ‘YES to Life’ Campaign to Combat Drug Abuse Through Sports
Agartala: The Khowai district administration in Tripura has initiated a sports-driven campaign, “Khowai says YES to life,” to raise awareness about drug abuse and other social evils among the youth, officials said.
As part of the campaign, participants in sports such as football, volleyball, and cricket are required to undergo tests for major infectious and lifestyle diseases. Alongside the matches, audio and video messages promoting awareness will be played to educate the audience.
The campaign kicked off with an inaugural football match at the Dakshin Maharani Village Committee premises in Mungiakami Block. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with approximately 30 youths voluntarily getting their blood tested.
Speaking on the initiative, Khowai District Magistrate Chandni Chandran said, “The first match saw significant engagement, and the health screenings are a critical part of the event. I hope this effort will bring positive results in our fight against drug abuse.”
She added that the campaign will continue over the coming weeks with more matches planned across the district. “We aim to engage a large number of youths through this initiative, which will also support the health department in implementing preventive measures,” Chandran stated.
The campaign underscores the administration’s commitment to using sports as a platform to promote health, foster community engagement, and combat social issues.
