Tripura: Leader of TIPRA Motha Brajlal Debbarma Resigns
Guwahati: The leader of the TIPRA Motha party Brajlal Debbarma resigned on January 30 after not receiving a ticket for the Kamalsagar Constituency.
Debbarma stated that he had contributed significantly to the party in the hopes that they will give him a ticket.
”I have done a lot of work with the hope that TIPRA Motha will give me a ticket from the Kamalsagar constituency. However, it was given to me,” he said after the resignation.
Debbarma added that he will soon be joined by more than 3000 supporters in the Trinamool Congress.
Meanwhile, Krishnapur (No. 29) tribal reserve Assembly member and BJP MLA Dr. Atul Debbarma announced his resignation on January 30.
In a letter addressed to speaker Ratan Chakraborty, he announced his resignation. He did not mention any justification, though.
Before the 2018 Assembly elections, Dr. Atul Debbama, a longtime member of the RSS and a well-known physician at AIIMS in Delhi, entered politics. After winning the poll in the tribal reserve Krishnapur (No. 29) Assembly constituency, he was elected as an MLA.
However, the BJP central leadership issued the party’s list of nominations for the February 16 assembly elections on January 28 without even alerting or consulting him and he was thus withdrawn as a candidate this time.
Reportedly, Dr. Atul Debbarma is reportedly shocked by the treatment given to him by the state and national BJP leadership
