Tripura Leader Urges Immediate Government Action for Crisis-Hit Rasmani Para
Northeast Desk, 14th May: Tripura’s Leader of Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, has called on the state government to urgently address the severe food, water, and economic crisis affecting the people of Rasmani Para in Chawmanu Block, Dhalai District.
Chaudhury, who visited Rasmani Para, reported that residents are facing dire conditions, lacking essential resources such as money, food, and water. “I came here in Rasmani Para under Chawmanu Block; on May 7, a 47-year-old lady, Bhanupati Tripura, died of malaria without any treatment. Though there are no reports of an outbreak, it is the government’s duty to send a medical team and provide water and other necessities. But the government has failed to do this,” the CPIM leader stated.
He highlighted the lack of employment opportunities, noting that there have been no MNREGA works for the past six months, exacerbating the crisis. Chaudhury further alleged that some residents had to cross into Bangladesh illegally to collect tree resin, locally known as ‘Gandhaki,’ earning around Rs. 2000 after a week of labor.
“The government is silent. Not only from here but also from other villages, around 100 people are working outside to earn money. People here are suffering pathetically. We want to draw the attention of the state government to wake up from sleep and to save these people,” he demanded.
Chaudhury’s appeal underscores the urgent need for government intervention to provide medical aid, water, and employment to the beleaguered residents of Rasmani Para.
