Tripura: Major Drug Bust by Assam Rifles in Khowai district
Northeast Desk, 24th January: In a successful joint operation conducted on January 23, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Tripura Police, seized 180 Kg of Marijuana valued at Rs 75.5 lakh.
The operation, executed in the Bidhyabil area under Khowai PS, Khowai District, Tripura, led to the apprehension of one drug peddler and the confiscation of an EECO Van.
Additionally, a mobile phone worth Rs 20,000 was recovered from the arrested individual.
The suspect, along with the seized contraband, was handed over to Khowai PS for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Demonstrating unwavering commitment to a drug-free society, Assam Rifles carried out a significant operation on January 21.
In collaboration with the state police of Tripura and TSR, the security forces launched a joint operation in the general area of Lembucherra.
The objective was to combat illegal Marijuana plantations. In this operation, a staggering 30,000 illegal and fully grown Marijuana plants were destroyed and burnt.
The estimated market value of the confiscated plants amounted to Rs 1.05 crore. This action reinforces Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts in the relentless fight against drugs and illicit activities in the region.
